1. The Bible:
We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God. God used human authors who retained their own personalities and writing styles to write down the words God intended. The Bible is God’s supernatural revelation of Himself to humanity, absolute in authority, and complete in its content. It is the believer’s only infallible rule for faith and practice.
Scripture references: 2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
2. The One True God:
We believe that there is only one true and living God. He is the creator of the heavens and the earth, and He ordains whatever comes to pass. We believe God is one being in three persons known as the Trinity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They are identical in essence, and equal in power and glory.
Scripture references: Mark 12:29; Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Thessalonians 1:9; John 10:30; Matthew 28:19-20
3. The Fall:
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God for righteousness and holiness. However, since the fall of Adam and Eve, all of humanity fell and entered into a state of guilt, corruption, and alienation from God. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all deserve death and eternal punishment.
Scripture references: Genesis 1:26; Ephesians 4:24; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23
4. Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the second person of the Trinity. We believe that Jesus took on flesh, lived a perfect life, died for our sins, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. The atoning work of Christ is salvific and effective for all who repent and have faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. He is the only way to our salvation and justification. One day Jesus will return to judge and establish the new heavens and new earth.
Scripture references: John 1:14; 1 Peter 2:22; Isaiah 53:5; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Acts 1:11; John 5:25-29
5. The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who regenerates, sanctifies, illuminates, and gives faith to all of God’s people.
Scripture references: Titus 3:4-5; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; John 16:13-16
6. The Church
We believe the visible church is a congregation of those who profess faith in Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and the church lives through the power of the Holy Spirit. The church gathers regularly to worship God, preach the gospel, observe baptism and the Lord’s supper, and pray. Church discipline is practiced in the church to care for the congregation and to uphold the church’s purity and unity.Scripture references: Colossians 1:18; Acts 2:41-42; Matthew 18:15-20; Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 22:19-20
